On August 30th, 4 of our girls, Trinity Edwards-Rea, Te Araroa Hona, Madisyn Dysart and Ava-lea Maxwell-Ogilvy, went up to Rotorua to represent Avonside at the New Zealand Secondary School Rugby League Nationals.

They combined with Kaiapoi High School and Rangiora High School to form Te Ōraka Kairangi. Trinity Edwards-Rea was named a co-captain of the team and Te Ōraka Kairangi proudly won "The Kiwi Way" Team of the Tournament. The award given to one team across the entire tournament, boys and girls, for fair play. They came up against some tough teams, but overall enjoyed the learning experience.
