Whānau Hui

AGHS —

This term we held our Whānau Hui as an online event. Our whānau zoomed into Te Paeroa, our Cultural Space to meet our Mana Kōtiro, our Komiti Māori and our Kapa haka roopu. We also heard from our Kapa haka tutor Hotumanawa Williams and our new Tumuaki, Catherine Law who introduced herself and spoke to whānau. We are pleased with the growing numbers of whānau connecting to our kura and acknowledge and welcome the wealth of knowledge and support they bring.

Our Kapa haka roopu has continued to practice across this term ensuring they meet regulations around the red traffic light setting. It has been so great to continue meeting despite illness and isolation for many. We are grateful to our tutor for her continued flexibility with practices, even splitting practices for juniors and seniors at times this term. Our Kapa haka roopu performed prior to our Whānau Hui, recording a waiata to begin our hui with and also a waiata to tautoko Mrs Law.

Our Komiti Māori have also continued to meet, online and when they are in school. They have big plans for Term 2 including our next Whānau Hui so we look forward to that.

Our next Whānau Hui will be in Term 2 Week 8 and we hope it will be kanohi ki te kanohi / face to face.

Below is a photo of our Kapa haka roopu, reduced in size due to illness and absence, practicing prior to the Whānau Hui.
