Sponsor a Beehive

AGHS —

Kia ora, my name is Kathryn Jer and I am the Managing Director of Clever Little Bees. I am a trained primary school teacher and have taught in both New Zealand and the UK. I launched Clever Little Bees when I realised there was a need for fun, different and educational after-school programmes that were focused on areas outside of the traditional sports, music and arts programmes. As well as after-school apiculture courses to teach primary school children the basics of beekeeping, Clever Little Bees offers apiculture courses for adults and also personalised lessons to schools to support learning as per the NZ Science Curriculum.

From Term 1 2022, Clever Little Bees will be teaching beekeeping lessons one day each school week at the Climate Action Campus – a campus with which Avonside Girls’ High School is involved. Clever Little Bees is currently seeking sponsors for the Climate Action Campus hives. We would love to be able to place at least 10 hives on the Climate Action Campus. This would enable groups of students to have practical lessons with a hive, learn about the importance of bees for pollination and how this impacts our food chain, as well as educational practices relating to bees. By sponsoring a hive within the Climate Action Campus - you are just not sponsoring one school, but every school involved in this campus, as well as the wider community.
