Dux and Proxime Accessit
Proxime Accessit
The student who has been awarded Proxime Accessit came to us from Heaton Intermediate in 2018. As a Year 9, she participated in football, volleyball, Athletics, Basketball, Korfball and rowing – and theatresports, the Shakespeare festival as well as Australian Maths competitions. This student received academic awards in Year 9 and was the best all round student in Year 9. She continued to be the best all round student in Year 10 and receive top academic awards winning the Karsten Cup in Year 11 and Karsten Scholarship in Year 12. She also continued to play Football, basketball, and became a dedicated rower. Alongside this she was the U15 Athletics Cup Champion. In Year 10 this student started her pathway in Tech council and production support for which she received arts colours in in 2020, 2021 and 2022. In Year 11, 12 and 13 she received rowing colours and Football colours in Year 11 and Year 12. This student achieved NCEA Level 1 and Level 2 with Excellence and received Academic Honours for both. Through her time at Avonside this student has received top academic awards in Physical Education, Science, Mathematics and Physics. Alongside this she has demonstrated leadership across sporting, theatre technology and as a Head student.

Dux
This student came to us from Sumner school in 2018. As a Year 9 she rowed, played tennis, netball, joined the theatre sports and Ukelele group. She continued these passions into Year 10 and was part of the Maadi Cup squad for rowing and received academic awards for French. As a Year 11 this student continued to row in the Maadi Squad, her group were crew of the year, and was also involved in Cycling and cross-country. She received Awards for Excellence in Physical Education, Maths and Science and NCEA Level 1 with Excellence. This student received Year 12 academic excellence awards in Chemistry, English, Mathematics and was awarded a Karsten Scholarship. She gained NCEA Level 2 with Excellence. She has continued to row, joining the Maadi Squad and gaining colours in Rowing through her senior years.
