Basketball Scholarship

Kyla and Jaeda Lynch-Brown have received a Wildcats Basketball Scholarship this year for their basketball development. Kyla playing in the under 17 grade and Jaeda in the under 15 grade. 20 girls in total from around the Canterbury region were awarded this amazing opportunity! 

Touch Rugby

Kyla Lynch-Brown has been named in the NZU18 girls team for the Trans-Tasman touch rugby test. The test will be held here in Christchurch in April 2022 with various fitness and skills camps leading into the test.  16 Girls from around New Zealand have been selected to take on Australia. 

Canterbury Under 19 Rugby:

Rya Fonotia, Toreka Fido & Olivia Digby have been selected for the Canterbury Under 19 Rugby team.  

Ice Hockey:

The final for the Canterbury Ice Hockey League High School’s tournament was held at Alpine Ice Arena on Saturday 25 September. Avonside have a combined team with Shirley Boys' High School in which Aoife Orr (Y9), Arnika Van Orsouw (Y11) and Natalia King-Venning (Y11) play.  The AGHS/SBHS team took the win over CBHS/STAC with a score of 6-4.  Aoife Orr received the award for Sportsmanship.
