Avonside Year 13 PE had absolute cricket royalty korero with us in order to help with our understanding of the impact of the Cricket World Cup that New Zealand recently hosted.
Firstly, the President of NZ Cricket, highest run scorer in ICC World Cup history, Hall of Fame Member, World Cup Champion, White Ferns Captain and Avonside graduate Deb Hockley CNZM passed on her wealth of knowledge and shared advice on health, leadership and her incredible experiences on and off the pitch.
Then World Cup all-rounder Frankie Mackay and former White Fern Rachel Candy joined us alongside Avonside graduate Bridget Butterfield. Bridget was the NZ team liaison for the tournament and shared with us her experiences in managing international sports teams while Frankie and Rachel held court with stories of their adventures playing overseas and had amazing insights into what life is like as a White Ferns player.
Thank you so much to our former Avonsiders and White Ferns players and staff!
