During week 10 of term 2 Avonside Girls' High School hosted our annual Senior Dance Showcase. The show included student choreography and work created by Fleur de Their and Anna Bate. This was a fantastic evening that celebrated year 12 and 13’s work for NCEA dance in 2020. The event was supported by a wonderful audience of friends and whanau.

There was a significant number of student choreographies in this year's show. Including four solo works, a group choreography, a duet and a site-specific dance film titled ‘Levels’. Levels was filmed in a stairwell at Avonside and explored the impacts of social distancing pre and post Covid. The teacher directed choreographies included Dance Theatre numbers from Fosse, Footloose and Decadance, and several original contemporary dances choreographed on the students.
