Auditory Processing Disorder (APD): is a disorder of the auditory (hearing) system that causes a disruption in the way that an individual's brain understands what they are hearing.

Symptoms include difficulty understanding speech in noisy environments, following instructions, and distinguishing between similar sounds.

Treatments may include environmental modifications, such as the use of listening devices, and working with a therapist.
