Matariki Celebration
Mana Kotiro and the senior Te Reo students celebrated Matariki in style this last week of term.
They provided a wish box for students to share their wishes and hopes for the future. They shared karakia and whakatauki with students, and information around Matariki.
They have facilitated rākau and other Māori games of dexterity and challenge. It was really nice seeing Shirley Boys' take part in these games.
The students also shared kai, that they prepared themselves, to acknowledge Matariki. The students made vegetable soup, pumpkin soup and fried bread - sharing it with students and staff on the Ōrua Paeroa campus.
They did a wonderful job acknowledging this important event in our national calendar.
