Uniform
We believe that wearing a school uniform helps build self-confidence and a sense of connection with our community. Students wear their uniform with pride.
You can find out about the items of uniform and the uniform rules here: https://www.avonside.school.nz/uniform/
Uniform concerns
We expect all staff members to help ensure the school uniform is worn with respect.
If a staff member has a concern around uniform, you will need to remove the item and discuss it later with your Whānau teacher.
If you do not do so, you will not be able to participate in the learning and the normal school processes around behaviour will apply. If this continues to be an issue or isn’t resolved , you may need to have a meeting with the Principal and your whānau.
If the concern is about appropriateness, the staff member will discuss it with your whānau teacher to follow up with you and home.
Uniform Passes
If you cannot wear an item of school uniform, report to Student Services in the morning and speak to the duty Kaitiaki. You will need to bring a note from your whānau. Uniform passes are not issued for hoodies.
Year 13 students
Year 13 students are allowed to wear non uniform on Fridays. A code of expectations governs what students wear when not in uniform at kura.
