SpaceBase Visit

AGHS —

During our school week of celebrating Matariki, a group of students were lucky enough to have a visit from SpaceBase, a company who works in conjunction with several agencies and business enterprises to do with space and future industries in it. The group consisted of a range of girls who expressed an interest in learning about space, including our Pūhoro STEM students. The girls were treated to a special presentation that consisted of a session looking at how space technology is used currently in various fields and what the future space career market will look like in the very near future. Unfortunately, it was too cloudy to use the telescope to view the sun, but they did enjoy making a postcard that will be sent out into space and then returned to them as a souvenir. The second session was popular as the students learnt what life is like on the International Space Station and how it works by an actual designer who worked on it. Thanks to Emeline and Eric from SpaceBase for their time and to Ms Foote and Mr Nicoll for coming along to help with the visit.
