Avonside Hockey Teams Update

AGHS —

As with most things this year, sport has not quite seen its usual seasons play out. Having said that, Avonside’s hockey teams have been working hard and are ready to hit the turf running! The 1st XI team has been putting a lot of effort into their training and has begun to see the pay offs of this during their games. With two tough competition games played so far, the team is sitting high on the results table after beating Villa Maria College and having a close loss against Christchurch Girls’ High School. With the annual Quadrangular Tournament fast approaching, the preparation continues, and the team is looking stronger with each game.

The Development team has also been making great progress so far this season. The competition draw has meant that the team has had a bye round and one game, which unfortunately didn’t get the result that they desired. Their training has proved very beneficial to their play and some of the girls have also had opportunities to train and play with the 1st XI team, helping to strengthen not only the development of their game, but also the future of Avonside hockey.
