Family Volunteering Day:

Saturday 24 October, 1.30pm – 3.30pm, Linwood Park. Is giving back a priority for you and your family? Are you looking to start a meaningful family tradition? Do you just want something fun to do with your kids? Come along and join Volunteering Canterbury and Off the Wall to freshen up the parks surrounds by painting a mural! There's something for every skill level, so come prepared for some messy fun! This is a free event but registrations are essential (so we have enough brushes!). Check out the Facebook event listing.

Hidden Christchurch:

Knights in armour fighting Sunday afternoon battles, caves that were once the homes of hermits, a never-ending treasure hunt. These are just some of the things around them that many Christchurch people are unaware of. Hidden Christchurch is a recently started Facebook page that lists lots of quirky, fun, interesting things to be found nearby. Most of them are free, and very family-friendly.

Volunteer at your local park:

There is always something happening at Christchurch City Council parks. Volunteering is a great way to help look after the environment you enjoy, learn more about your community, be active in the outdoors and meet other like-minded people. Find an event for you, your family and friends to join.

Real Canterbury:

Real Canterbury provides a health and wellbeing service for taiohi aged between 13-20 years through the Real Talk Group Programme and youth mentoring.

We support young people to push past their fears and inhibitions to realise what they are capable of. https://www.real.org.nz/real-southern/

ChChChanges:

Have you seen the ChChChanges project in the central city?  This ChChChanges project consists of a tour of frames located specifically to highlight various places, rebuild success stories, sites awaiting development or to focus on unique points and gatherings of people that constantly change over time.  Visit https://gapfiller.org.nz/project/chchchanges/ for more information and a map of where to find them.

Treasure Hunt Fun - Taonga Hunt:

Beginning in Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week), this free Taonga Hunt continues through the school holidays until Sunday 11 October.

The trail around Ōtautahi Christchurch helps kids learn words in te reo Māori and provides fun challenges for families to complete while they’re exploring Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Canterbury Museum, The Arts Centre, and Tūranga Central Library.  More information here:  https://newsline.ccc.govt.nz/news/story/treasure-hunt-fun-te-reo-teaching-tool
