AGHS —

In 2022, Avonside students won eight scholarships. As part of our Academic Assembly, we congratulated these students.

Two of these scholarship winners are in Year 13 this year having achieved Scholarship as Year 12 students. We were also fortunate to welcome back three students who achieved Scholarships as Year 13 students and who are currently studying or working this year.

Aurora G awarded Scholarships in English and History as a Year 12 student.

Zoe Langley was awarded Scholarship in Media Studies as a Year 12 student.

Lily Bond was awarded Scholarship in Visual Arts Painting. Lily is currently studying a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in English at University of Canterbury.

Lily’s portfolio was a personal investigation. She reflects on her childhood and growing up with her grandparents being a big part of her life, the grieving process after the death of her grandfather, and the effect this had on her grandmother.

Alex Erickson was awarded Scholarship in Visual Arts Painting. Alex’s work is displayed behind us. Alex is currently working this year and will pursue further study in the future. Alex’s portfolio is a personal investigation into their relationships with their family.

Anh’s portfolio draws attention to the hierarchical differences of Art and Craft, as well as investigating the historical relationship between women and craft. Anh creates playful, surreal works throughout her portfolio that highlight her strong technical ability.
