OFF-SITE VOCATIONAL: SECONDARY TERTIARY PATHWAYS

Dual enrolment opportunities provide Year 12 and 13 students with positive transitions to further education, training or work by attending courses outside of school.

A dual enrolment or secondary tertiary pathway (STP) programme is a connection between a tertiary institution and a school. Dual enrolment opportunities provide Year 12 and 13 students with positive transitions to further education, training or work by attending courses outside of school. These courses operate for one or two days a week and are trades-based, practical and relevant to students’ learning pathways. For a two day course, students will have one subject option less on their school timetable. See Robyn Armstrong in the Careers Office for more information or email rarmstrong@avonside.school.nz

Students can also apply to do Gateway during the year, which is an extended work placement with approximately 20 level 2 or 3 credits. It is not a subject but works around a student’s existing timetable. See Patrick Price, the Gateway Coordinator, in the Careers Office if you want know more, or email pprice@avonside.school.nz
