First Pies of the Year
The Brief was "To make their own Perfect Pie"
The smells were amazing as sauces were made from scratch: Sweet and sour mussel, Teriyaki pork, butter chicken, and Lentil and cauliflower cheese, were among the flavours wafting around. We even had a chicken burger pie. Homemade pastry that was golden and flakey, and a juicy filling that spilled out when bitten into. Some had a creamy soft potato or kumera top, while others had a pastry lattice woven on top.
The students planned their own pies to suit their favourite flavours and most were eaten before they got back to their classroom.
