Junior Girls rugby competition is starting in 2017, and here is the information to get you started.

This year to create more opportunities for females in Rugby & Sport, I have encouraged Junior Metro Rugby Clubs to offer Girls Junior Rugby grades. They have the option of still playing with the boys or they can play in the new girls grade! There will be 3 age groups, U9, U11 & U13. They will play Saturday mornings like regular Primary Rugby.

Many girls play Rippa Rugby at school and in the Edgar Centre competition, and now it’s their opportunity to play on Saturdays and take the next step without the boys! It’s about playing with their friends and getting more opportunities. Currently when it goes to girls only in Secondary school there is a massive increase in players, which shows they want to play so I think this is the same in Primary school where they could be afraid of contact or playing with the boys
