Message from the Principal
Building on a great start to the year!
Kia ora e te whānau
It has been a busy and rewarding start to our year. I am very pleased with way everyone has settled into school life. There is a very positive tone and good energy in our school.
This was very nicely demonstrated at our mihi whakatau last week. A rousing haka, lovely waiata and inspiring whaikorero all contributed to a fantastic school event. We talked about the importance of respect, kindness and making our school a safe and happy place for everyone. Our school does this extremely well and the feedback from visitors and new staff backs this up. A very impressive effort from everyone!
We are now at the end of Week 4 and learning programmes are well underway. Teachers are busy gathering early observational and achievement data to help set learning goals for your child.
It's a team effort between home and school especially when it comes to the reinforcement and retention of maths and literacy learning. We will be holding parent teacher interviews in a few weeks time and I encourage you to prioritise these meetings and be ready to help us understand your childs needs.
Finally a special thanks to those parents and caregivers who give their time to support our camps, outdoor trips and sports coaching. We simply couldn't do these without you. Your support is very much appreciated.
As always, don't hesitate to contact school if we can help in any way.
Ngā mihi mahana
Andrew Hunter
