On a scorching hot day we came together in our new classes to make a start to the 2018 year. Despite the heat we achieved a lot today in terms of starting to develop the relationships between our class, syndicate and block buddies!

Last week the Balmac Room's 7, 8 and 14 Zoo was presented at our parents sharing night. The students have been working on this term's ASPIRE inquiries to create, make and present an invented creature that would survive in the habitat of their choice.

Room's 7,8,& 14 have been very busy working on our Zoo inquiries over the last few weeks. Our learning street and the art room were a hive of activity last week as we worked on the many parts of our inquiry presentations. The results of this inquiry will be on display for parents to view on Thursday 5th April from 6.30-7.30pm when the Balmac Zoo will be open!

Room 7 came alive to the sound of music these last two weeks with our Ukulele sessions for Term One.

Today we had our Mihi Whakatau - the welcome of the Year 7 students, new teachers and whanau into our school community.

Stinging cells, poison darts, metal tongues- just a few of the amazing special features that we studied in during our visit to the Aquarium this week.

A huge focus this year in our syndicate is to create opportunities to create and make - giving our students the opportunity to be faced with a challenge or question and design, prototype and test solutions.

Today Room 7 had a chance to enjoy the return of the sunshine with a session of Kiwigolf to swing into the day!
