Gratitude and appreciation.

It's a wrap! Our Term Four pARTicpate term came to an end with syndicate performances and sharing nights with family and whanau over the last two weeks. Our end of year celebrations have started and our year 7 students are ready for a well earned break and are looking forward to stepping up as Year 8 students in 2024.

The Year 8 Staff would like to thank all whanau and friends for your support during the 2023 school year. This has enabled us to provide a varied and rich learning environment.

Many ākonga are looking forward to bringing home their completed outcomes to share their successes with their whānau.

Earlier this term the Balmacewen orchestra walked to Kaikorai Primary School for our final workshop with their school orchestra.

Recently our year 7 team have been learning the traditional Samoan Sasa and then each class created their own adapted version. Check out the video.

The final group of year 8's mystery boxes were made this week

The last group of Year 7s have finished their time in the foods room.

This term we had 8 teams that played at the Oval Junior Competition on a Thursday after school.

Last week Room's 3, 25 and 26 hosted our parents and whanau to our pARTicipate Term Four PBL performances.

Over the last two weeks we have been focusing on character writing. To finish our unit, the students had to choose either their mother or father to create a paragraph character description. These were then added to a slide to share with the parents anonymously to see if they could recognise themselves- some have been brutally honest! Here is a sample of our writing.

On Friday night our Term Four Waterpolo concluded with our three teams finishing for the year.

We would love to support the Annual Food Bank appeal over the last week at school.

Parents will be informed of their child's classroom placement on the Friday before school starts (Friday 26th January.)

This is an early opportunity to meet your child’s teacher to discuss class programmes and expectations. This will be held on Wednesday 7th February at 7.00pm. It will begin in the school hall with an address from our Principal Andrew Hunter. The year 8 camp meeting will follow in the hall at 7.45pm
