It's been a year like no other! Global pandemic, lock downs and a new appreciation of what matters most.

The Year 8 team would like to take this opportunity to thank the families and friends of our students for the support you have provided during the 2020 school year.

It's a wrap! Our PBL performances are over, the end of year celebrations have started and our year 7 students are ready for a well earned break and looking forward to stepping up as Year 8 students in 2021.

North Zones & Otago Champs

After winning the Otago tournament our girls cricket team qualified and travelled to Palmerston North for this year's national tournament. Read on for a recap of the tournament by two of our players, Alanni and Kate.

Year 7 students have continued sculpting and molding miniature clay warriors inspired by the Qin Dynasty Terracotta Army. The Super Skill focus for them was "Problem Solve and Persevere"

Students have been constructing cardboard homes and their interiors. They were given a colour restriction of only browns, which encouraged the use of a variety of materials and emphasis on developing ideas. The Super Skills foci were "Problem Solving and Persevering" and "Be My Best."

The end of season finished on a high with the GOLD team winning the A grade in our Thursday afternoon competition. Our Red team finished second in the B grade and our Blue team had a very tight game going down to Fairfield in the last quarter 2-0.

During Week 5 all Year 7 classes were privileged to have a Ballet lesson with Chloe, an educator dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet. This was a fantastic session to tie in with our Term Four topic - pARTicipate - with our focus on the ARTS.

Callum and P may be designing the Dunedin Pie, but our Year 8's have been busy designing and making their own pies.

Many Year 8 students have said that the screen printing unit is one of their favourites!

to be jolly ... We have been feeling jolly in Fabrics about creating festive decorations that show our individual designs and new hand sewing skills.

Some Year 7 classes were challenged to create a unique sock monkey that demonstrated the new hand sewing techniques they had developed.

The Otago Road Services bus that travels from Mosgiel to Balmacewen Intermediate will only deliver students to school. There will be NO return service on this day. Students will need to make their own way home.

The student council has worked hard this year to support their chosen charities and to contribute to their classes and school.
