We are warming up and emerging from winter and there's plenty of great activity around the school.

Wow. We are now 4 weeks into the term already! Time is certainly flying by. Read on to see what we have been up to.

We had 17 students participating in the Ukulele Jam at Tahuna Intermediate School on Thursday.

Last Friday the 11th August the Balmacewen Cross Country was held here at school. It was a fantastic effort from everyone involved, with excellent perseverance on display.

Group C have now started their term in the Foods room. 

Term 3 sees a new unit with the Year 7 groups. We are focusing on modifying recipes with our own choices of flavours and textures.

In an exciting final, Balmacewen Intermediate's Try-Bal Warriors became the Otago champions.

Camaraderie, hard work and positivity continue to pay off for Balmacewen, as they maintain their winning streak. 

The end of the netball season has arrived.

Congratulations to the large number of Balmacewen students who received prizes at the Otago Science and Technology Fair Prize Giving on Sunday

Today Room 7 headed off to the CAMLAB to have a go at some activities and new skills that we could use this term in our IMPACT topic to present and share our new learning.

In the first two weeks of this term Room’s 5, 6 and 26 have been doing fitness as part of the FFF rotations (Fitness, Food, Focus). It has been great fun to do.

Today we had a fantastic day at the Eco-Sanctuary as part of our Impact topic. 

Shima has managed to win not only first place but also second place in this competition. 

Lily's work has been selected from over 1000 entries to be published in the Toitoi journal. Toitoi is a quarterly journal of writing and art by New Zealand children, ages 5–13.

Yesterday 100 Balmacewen students travelled down to Invercargill for our annual winter sports exchange with Southland Boys and Girls High School. 

This year Balmacewen Intermediate entered three teams in the Tech Girls are Superheroes Competition which is an Australasian competition designed to support and encourage girls to get involved in the tech industry. 

We have started our 4 week block of learning the marimba.

Invites Year 7 & 8 students and families with an interest in cricket, as well as current students and families to an information evening about the cricket programme at OBHS.
