Kia Ora families and friends of our Year 8 students.  What an extremely busy term we have experienced! 

What a busy month of March the Year 7 team have had! The focus for the month of March has been camp!

This term Year Eight students  have been refining their  ideas, drawing and painting skills.  They have also been focused on the Balmac Super Six.  These works show their ability to: Aim High, Persevere and Problem Solve. 

Year 7 students have been challenged and have created some exciting new artworks this term.

Congratulations to our Kids lit team who competed in the annual kids lit competition at Dunedin North Intermediate on Wednesday.

The year 8's are finishing off their pastry unit with their own pie creation.

Group 1 finished off with Sushi and Cookies, and Group 2 have made their cooking debut.

One of our follow up reading activities was to create spooky campfire stories to share.  The final stories were clever, spooky and possibly a bit gruesome!

The term has been a very busy one with lots of hard work and lovely projects being completed.

Cushion making is well underway in the Fabrics room in 2017.  

Creating and making is Room 23's forte! 

Thursday evenings has seen some great weather, and some great touch has been played at the Kensington Oval.

What a fantastic time Room 6 and Room 26 students are having this term combining to make the awesome Balmac 626 Rippa Team.

Our girls cricket team have had a very successful term  playing in the NZ Shield Competition.

Room 26 have already had a couple of Marimba lessons with Mrs Mepham and the improvements are very pleasing.

Last week Mark Delacy (Aka the Minstrel) entertained the Year 8 students with his unique presentation.

With most of the Foods group at Camp, the R5 group had a pancake challenge.  

Balmacewen entered a team in the Otago League Carnival on Friday March 17th

Today we were extremely lucky to have 'Hiwi the Kiwi' come to school to talk to the Year 8 group about water safety, and fishing rules and regulations so we can all enjoy our kaimoana! 

Last week we worked on I am/Ko ahau poems as part of our involvement in Get NZ Writing.
