Half way there!

Ms Mariana Lote —

Over the 3 weeks we've had a few gaps in our classroom for a period of time. But thank you Lord for technology as I got to see some faces of our mahi from home :) Thought of this verse of here that solidifies that God is always with us - Psalm 46:10

Talofa lava everyone!

Room 5 have been working hard and learning about a variety of subjects Throughout the weeks we have shared and discussed about the conversions of F.D.P's (Fractions, Decimals and Percentages) Maths. What a great writer looks like (working on punctuation, grammar and sentence structure) Writing. Looking at cultural differences through music and dance and how that relates to our theme of relationships and communities around the world, Topic Studies. And also working on our athletics skills for our first school event thats going to take place next week Friday (GO RED LIONS HOUSE!) Sports/PE.

I was very honoured and proud of Room 5 this week especially, as it was our turn to present a special item during chapel. Room 5 shared their thoughts of what it means to STAND STRONG through poetry (sticking to the theme of Pastor Ama's week of worship). Those who were with us had to create and write creatively, and here are some snaps shots of some of our students work.

During the weeks we also announced our head prefects and school leaders for 2022. Congratulations to Daniella Daniels and Ethan Gambe who are our head prefects. And Tevita Ikavuka, Candice Marasigan, Marcia Amoah, Freya Tipoa'i and Gabriella Latu who are our school leaders for 2022. Well done team :)

Around weeks 4-5 I did feel a bit sad seeing our class half empty but I'd like to thank our families who followed our safety procedures of keeping our tamariki's health safe and well. It's not easy learning from home but thank you family for keeping our tamariki's learning up to date and making sure they get the learning they need. I did hold a zoom session for Room 5 last week and it was so nice seeing their faces! Thank you Room 5 for being diligent with your learning and turning in your work in on time, and for being patient finishing your isolation period.

Fast forward to week 6 and it's so nice having nearly everyone back in class! Being able to talk and engage with our kids is so much better than talking to them through a screen. Thank you Lord for our tamariki and their love for learning.

We have also started a new unit for Bible and we are looking at the Creation and the Fall. This unit will help strengthen our knowledge and love for Gods creation that surrounds us. We started our lesson with creating origami (making frogs) and looking around the class, many of Room 5's faces showed frustration! This made us think of how powerful God is and how he created our environments - is there anything God can't do!?

As I wrap up my 6th week of first year teaching here at Balmoral, I'm thankful and so blessed to have a great bunch with me. Thank you Room 5 for your mahi, aroha and time for our school.

Notices:

1. Athletics day next week Friday (18/03)

2. I highly recommend if students could bring their own water bottles to school, much safer than sending them out for a drink of water from the fountain outside.

3. Thursday is tech day - students must bring a container for them to take to tech.

4. Wednesdays are our sports day - sports uniform on.

Have a blessed weekend

Ms Lote
