Term 3 in ACTION!
A windy welcome back this week π¬
Ni Sa Bula Vinaka, Happy Fijian language week π«π― and welcome back to another term here at BSDA.
I hope we all had a blissful holiday with our loved ones but now it is time for us to set new goals and soak in new learning for Term 3! ππΌ
This is what Term 3 will look like for our tamariki here in Rm5;
Bible
Week 1-3: The Patriarchs
Week 4: Joseph
Week 5: WEEK OF WORSHIP
Week 6-7: *continue with Joseph
Week 8-10: Moses
Maths
We are going to continue practising our basic facts and concentrate on; percentages, decimals and fractions. We'll also learn and work on some problem solving strategy skills too, this is something that I've noticed with Rm5. We all know the answer but we need to show our thinking/strategy which we'll do throughout the term π
Literacy (Reading & Writing)
For literacy reading, our tamariki will extend their reading comprehension skills as well as a novel study that we will be doing later on in the term.
For literacy writing, will be filling our basket of knowledge with creative writing, as well as report writing specifically looking at articles and advertisements. And a bit of media studies as well! Which is a bit exciting for both the tamariki and I.
Social Science & Science
Social Science
Lots and lots of language weeks this term, so for our social sciences we are going to concentrate and extend our cultural knowledge by learning the language and researching how others live around the world.
Science
For this unit here we're working closely with Rm4 :)
Science introductory & Egg drop challenge (with Rm4) is happening soon. This challenge will make them think and use their design model knowledge of how to save the egg from cracking. This is something that I'm looking forward too as it gives them a competition with Rm4 as well!
Te Reo Maori
For Te Reo Maori we're going to continue learning new words and even perform songs and dance. This also falls under the Arts curriculum, this will enhance their knowledge of the culture and build their confidence too!
Technology & Arts
This term Rm5 has Robotics! This will help them with their computer tech skills. Technology is still continued at Wesley Intermediate on Thursday mornings, so if you could please bring them to school before 8:40am as the bus departs between 8:45am β 8:50am. We donβt want them to miss the bus π¬
They will also be concentrating on digital art this term with a little bit of painting, this fits in nicely with the new skills theyβll learn from tech.
PE (Physical Education)/FItness
Our main sport focuses this term are; Ripper rugby with Mr T, Badminton and Basketball drills. There are a few school competitions fast approaching and this will be good for our tamariki to practise their skills and keep their fitness up as well! ππΌ
Before the holidays, the whole of BSDA got to go to the museum and re-live history! This was so fun and a day that was filled with lots of new learning. Thank you to everyone who came with us π
I am looking forward to further learning in Rm5. Our main theme for this term is Creativity and Imagination! This terms learning will have a key focus behind this theme. We will have a focus on what a life long learner is about, this is true and important statement for all our tamariki here in BSDA and it's something that is an ongoing process - even for us teachers! π₯°
I canβt believe it has been 2 whole terms since being here at BSDA and Iβm thrilled how grown our students have become, lots and lots of learning ahead of us but just wanted to acknowledge and recognise that we have such a great God who loves us β PTL always!
We also had Heiava join us from Tahiti back in Week 10, Term 2 and today was her last day at BSDA. All the best with your studies back at home Heiava ππΌ
Thank you family for your support. Please email me if you have any questions. Stay warm and safe as it is getting cold and heres to new learning π₯³
Blessings
