Time to get your summer reading organised

Bayfield High School —

With the long holiday break coming up the library would like to encourage students to apply for a Summer Reading Permit. Research has shown that students who do not read over the summer are more likely to lose some of the literacy skills they have gained during the school year.

It is important to keep reading whether it is the newspaper, a recipe, a tide chart, a magazine, a graphic novel or a book. We can help, we have a selection of fiction, non-fiction books, e-books and magazines that we would rather have in circulation than sitting on our shelves over summer. Students who apply for a permit can come and choose their own reading material or library staff are happy to gather a selection of books for them based on their interests. Students are also welcome to choose for other family members as well. Permits can be collected from the library or e-mailed out on request and are available to all returning students.
