Athletic Sports Day, held at the Caledonian Sports Ground on Tuesday 13th February
This is a longstanding traditional event that is used to install house spirit, comradery and friendly competition between students and continues to make a positive impact on the culture of Bayfield High School.
All students are expected to participate and should come dressed appropriately. Juniors must be in correct PE gear and can accessorise with house colours (tutu/socks/hat etc) and Seniors are to be dressed in house colours and clothing they can compete in. Remember to bring sun hats and sunscreen. All students may wear face paint for Athletics Day, but please don’t bring paint to school, or to the Caledonian as it is not permitted. Please be organised and get painted up before you leave home.
Due to Cruise Boats arriving in Dunedin we are unable to provide bus transport to and from the event this year. Therefore, we ask parents/guardians to arrange transport of students to arrive at the main gate of the stadium by 8:50am. Upon entry students are to check in with their Dean and Tutor out on the field and have their name marked off on the roll. They are then to proceed to the grandstand when instructed, to get seated in their House area and await instructions from there. They will be released from the stadium at 3:00pm and we would ask parents to arrange pick up and transport at this time.
The canteen at the ground will not be operating, so please bring a decent packed lunch and drink. No students will be permitted to leave the stadium during the course of the day unless the school has been contacted in advance. If the weather is poor and the sports must be postponed, this will be announced over More FM and Radio Dunedin from 7:00am onwards. It will also be updated on the school’s Facebook and Instagram pages. If postponed it will be school as normal in uniform. Our back up day is Thursday February 29th.
