Deputy Principal's Message

Jacqui van der Beek —

Kia ora e te whānau,

Term four is such a lovely time of year. Our students show us how well they are learning and have grown to take on additional responsibility and tackle new challenges. Teachers are celebrating with students on how well they have progressed. Learning Celebrations are next week. This is an opportunity for you to come in, and your child will share their learning with you.

Monday, 6 November, 2:30-3 pm: A18, and Carmichael Team (Year 5 and 6)

Wednesday, 8 November, 2:30-3 pm: A17, and Reweti Team (Year 0-2)

Thursday, 9 November, 2:30-3 pm: A19 and Wiremu Team (Year 3-4)

Our kura has certainly been a very active place these past few weeks. The Disco on Thursday last week was a great success. Thank you so much to all of the PTA parents and new volunteer parents who made this such a great event. Our students absolutely loved being together and dancing with their friends.

We celebrated books and reading on Friday with our Book Character Dress Up Day. This was a fantastic opportunity for Staff and students to talk about and celebrate their favourite characters. The parade in the hall was an opportunity for each class to walk across the stage and show their costumes and best parade moves.

Our wonderful Year 6 students are getting ready for their exciting move to the next stage of their learning and social growth. It is an exciting time as we see how this group of students are ready for their next steps. We are so proud of the growth we see. The Year Six students have been visiting the Intermediate and meeting the Deputy Principals, who will be working with them in 2024.

Athletics teaching has been the P.E. focus for this term and our Athletics days were due to start this week. The weather has caused a bit of disruption to our plans. The class teachers advertise information regarding times and days. Please come along and cheer your children on (Reweti managed to get their Athletics in on Thursday morning).

I would like to acknowledge the wonderful work of our Road Patrol students and parents. They turn up in all weather to get those signs out and help make getting to school safer for all of our tamariki. We appreciate the work you do, especially in the pouring rain and howling gales.

Take care everyone. I look forward to seeing you around our kura next week as we celebrate our tamariki with Learning Celebrations and Athletics.

Ngā mihi nui
