Community Support and New Whānau Members

Kia ora e te whānau
    by Catherine Neidhardt

Since our first newsletter of the year a few weeks ago, we have had many things happening within our school and also saw the significant impact of Cyclone Gabriella outside of our kura.

Cyclone Relief Fundraiser: Earlier today our tamariki came together to show their support and aroha for their fellow students impacted by the flooding in the rural Hawkes Bay schools. We placed all of our gold coin donations into the shape of a heart and wrote messages of support for those kura who were deeply affected.

We then took numerous photos of all the messages and as of lunch today, these images have been sent to the principal's of the impacted schools to share with their communities. All donations will be sent directly to the schools affected. It has been incredibly moving to see how many of our students expressed interest in wanting to help those impacted by the cyclone. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our amazing Bethlehem School community for their kindness and support of this initiative.

New Bethlehem Staff: Within our kura, we have had the pleasure of welcoming some new members to our Bethlehem whānau:

Rachel Namburi (Rm 9), Mandy Veza (Rm 3), Angela Stensness (Deputy Principal), Kyanna Hetaraka-Rua (Kaiāwhina), Jasdeep Kaur (Room 15), Hone Beilby (Room 19)

Please come along and meet our new staff in the mornings before school, at school assemblies or at the end of the day. They would love to say Kia Ora.

For the next few weeks we are all participating in the House of Science visits and preparing for Bethlehem Superstars. The Twilight Gala is also coming soon on Friday 17 March from 4pm-7pm. We have heaps of exciting things planned over the coming months and we look forward to seeing all of you there!

Ngā mihi
