Overview

Bishopdale School - March 2, 2022

Bishopdale Primary School is located 10km northwest of central Christchurch. We are contributing primary, catering for families wishing to have their children attend a smaller family orientated community school in the heart of a large city.

We enrol children from Year One (5 year olds) to Year Six (10–11year olds). We do have an enrolment zone and can take children from the local area and from other parts of the city.

Our school offers our children and families partnership and engagement in the learning process and is culturally responsive to the families and community that it serves.

Our roll is around 160 pupils. We have 7 classrooms which are organised into five junior and two senior classes.

Our classrooms offer a flexible learning space. Students work collaboratively together within their class groups, with the buddy class and with their team. The children have ownership of their learning and have opportunities to have input into their own learning with the help of their teachers and parents.

Our teachers and community are committed to providing a strong foundation of learning by designing programmes to suit each child's learning journey in a friendly, fun setting. Our curriculum provides opportunity for our children to take on challenges, build solid foundations of learning, academically and socially.

We pride ourselves on demonstrating our school values at all times. These are Caring, Achieving, Responsibility and Enthusiasm.

The school is mainly in one block divided into classrooms within this. We also have a school hall, a playground, a sandpit and two large court areas. We are also lucky to have a very large grass area for sporting activities.

Bishopdale has a proud 50 year history of education in the Bishopdale/Papanui area and continues to develop the next generation of learners in a 21st century learning environment. We are part of the Totaranui Kahui Ako which also includes Casebrook Imtermediate and Papanui High School.

For further information, enrolment procedures, or tours please contact the school office directly. Please feel to pop in for a visit. Our Principal Mrs McArthur will show you around.

We really like having new people join us in our cool school.
