Look back and reflect, so you can move forward

We had a fantastic day on Monday at Athletics.  Children participated enthusiastically and the day was very well organised by the team but particularly, Mrs Gourlay who is our teacher in charge of sports.  We look forward to giving out all our certificates over the next week or so for those children who performed particularly well.  There are rather a lot so we give them out a few at a time in Huihui.

2025 Enrolments

If you have a child starting at our school in zone in 2025, could you please let us know if we don’t already.  Our out of zone ballot closes on Wednesday 12th March 2025, but the Term 1 ballot is already closed.  The next ballot is for students to start in Term 2.  All Christchurch schools have the same ballot dates.  If you are unsure if you are in our zone there is a map on the office window.

Student behaviour – the purple container is filling up.  A quick reminder that students get a counter if they have been behaving well at breaktimes.  When this is full the students will have a disco to be held on 4th December for the whole school.

Navigating the Journey

A further reminder that teachers will start teaching this in the next week or so.  We have already held a parent meeting for this last term and there is a lot of information available as well for you as parents.  There are copies of the parent book available at the office if you wish to look at them.

Pasifika Performance

A proud group of our Pasifika learners are performing next Wednesday night with rehearsals during the same day.  We are looking forward to going to watch.  If you are a parent of one of the performers and are still to get your tickets, then please make sure you get them online as soon as possible.  A big group of teachers are going to watch as well.

School Closed to Students - Thursday 14th November

A quick reminder – again – that this is Teacher Only Day so school is not open for instruction.

School Closed - Friday 15th November

The school is closed for Canterbury Show Day – a regional holiday.  Enjoy the day with your whānau.

Gumboot Friday

We would like to thank everyone who took part in Gumboot Friday.  We raised $140.00 for I Am Hope, a charity that supports mental health.

Traffic Outside School

This is particularly busy with the new lights.  Could you please set a good example and make sure you are leaving plenty of space between cars and stopping on the orange/red light for our children to cross safely.  We do have a lot of red light runners in cars at present.

Newsletter Competition

The newsletter question for this week is how does the school earn the Purple counters for the School Disco?

Write your answer on a piece of paper, named, and pop it in the kete in the office – 3 Care Cards for Juniors, 3 Care Cards for Seniors.  Last week this was won by Darrius Cobden-Cairns.

Attendance

Last week the voucher was won by Letesha Ferguson for being at school every day and on time.  She won a KMart voucher.

Totara won the class attendance for having the highest percentage attending for the week.
