Principal's Pen
Welcome back to Term 2.
It’s great to see all the students back and some new children as well. Our school roll is now at 150 – the highest it’s been for years. It’s also lovely to see the new entrant class growing to 22 now – with two teachers team teaching in there.
School Events
We have lots of school events happening this term so a separate printed copy is coming home with the newsletter today. We will let you know closer to the time if events concern your age child and what is involved. We may also ask for your help and involvement if this relates to your cultural group – watch this space!!
Attendance
I would like to acknowledge all those students who attend school regularly. Those who have over 95% attendance will receive a free Juicie and bag of popcorn this Friday. Congratulations to:-

Ramadan
Our Muslim students have been involved in Ramadan. Some of them have fasted, attended the Mosque overnight, and still been attending school. What an impressive effort showing values of Perseverence and Caring.
Papanui Bush Visit
Next Thursday afternoon, Puriri (Miss Boreham) and Totara (Miss McGowan) classes will be walking down to Papanui Bush (beside Tony’s Tyre Repairs). This area has been adopted by Papanui High School in terms of caring and planting. As it is a culturally significant area of our school we will be walking down and meeting local experts there to do some planting, weeding, and recognising why it is so special. Have a look out for this area when you are passing – it’s small but special.
We will not be asking for separate permission forms as these have already been signed by parents at the beginning of the year.
Please come along if you wish, if your child is in one of these classes. We will be leaving school at 12:30pm and returning in time for the end of the day.
