Stars of the Week
Congratulations to this week's Stars of the Week, who are:
Druti Pandey in Kōwhai
Druti enjoys doing picture puzzles in class and even sometimes at home. She loves to play games and is quite good at Duck, Duck, Goose. She said Dad recently bought her a mermaid that lights up and she uses it when they go camping, but you can't put it in the water as it has batteries in it. She also said you can't shower but you can go in the river. When Druti grows up she wants to be kind to her brother, and tries to help him as much as she can now.
Wyatt Dover in Koromiko
Wyatt has a lovely new haircut that he got yesterday and will also be celebrating his 6th birthday on Friday. He loves to play in the toyroom at school and is very good at drawing. He also likes to read stories. At home he enjoys playing on his tablet, especially games where he can build things. When Wyatt grows up he would like to be a Gardener, like a character in one of his games.
Isabel Taylor in Koromiko
Isabel likes playing with her friend Jaylah at school. She also likes maths and writing stories, she loves scary stories. Isabel also likes reading and said she would rather read a book than read a story on an iPad. At home she likes to play soccer with her older brother Soni, and said when she is a little older her Mum is going to enrol her in the local team that her brother plays for. When she grows up, Isabel would like to be a Nail Technician at the Mall.
William Sligo in Mataī
William has been practising his handwriting in class this morning, which is good as his favourite subjects are handwriting, maths and art. He said he likes school and misses his school friends during the holidays. On Tuesday's he likes to go to his friend Vinz's house where they play basketball together. He also likes to practise at school with our fantastic basketball hoops. When William grows up he would like to be either a YouTuber, Formula 1 Racing Car Driver or a Firefighter.
Addyson Ischia in Tī-Kōuka
Addyson has been learning about sunflowers this week with Mrs Branch and said she has grown some at home before, but they didn't get very big. Addyson said she likes narrative reading and really likes scary stories. She also likes writing, maths and colouring in. During break times Addyson likes to play soccer and on Wednesday afternoons after school she has soccer practice.
Indy Taare Pao-Toleafoa in Kahikatea
Indy had a great time at the Year 6 School Camp recently. She said they had lots of team activities to do and the food was really good, they even had dessert every day that included chocolate mousse and icecream. At school Indy likes maths and reading, and is also playing netball for the school for the second year. Next year she will be going to Casebrook Intermediate. Indy's not sure what she would like to do when she grows up but has plenty of time to choose.
Ceon Deepu in Tōtara
Ceon did very well in his math's test recently and his teacher said he has gone up a few grades. He is going to get in some soccer practise this afternoon as he has his first game as a member of our school soccer team at Hagley Park tomorrow afternoon. Ceon recently went on school camp with the Year 6 children and absolutely enjoyed it. He said one of the activities they did was build a car out of parts and race it. On the first 2 attempts he said bits fell off underneath but on the third it was good and they won the race. He said they also had camp fires and played hide and seek with torches, which he said he was very good at hiding, and after all the fun activities slept really well. Next year Ceon is off to Casebrook and would like to train to be an Electrical Engineer when he grows up.
