Project Jonah

Office (Bishopdale School) —

Today the school had somebody from Project Jonah in to talk to us about dolphins and whales. We learnt about the sizes of different species, what they eat, and what to do if a whale is stranded. Below is a piece of writing about the talk, written by Tevunga from Koromiko.

Today I learned about whales and dolphins. If you see a whale trying to get back inside the ocean, you need to tell whoever is your whānau and get a bucket or a shoe or a hat and put sea water inside. Pour the water carefully on the whale and then put a sheet on it. When you are pouring the water on it, don't put the water in the hole that's on the top of the head because that's where the whale breathes.
