Kia ora Whānau
Tukua kia tū takitahi ngā whetū o te rangi
Let each star in the sky shine its own light.
How happy and proud we are as a school. I have to say I have been amazed two days in a row this week. The first was with the Matariki Celebration yesterday. It was great to see so many of our whānau come to watch. The children also performed really well – although a bit quieter than usual. It was fantastic to watch our Kapa Haka leaders – the conch blowers – Soni, Ali, and Jevayce. One exceptional child at Kapa Haka that must be mentioned is Atamira Pairama. He unfailingly performs well, steps up to help out, and shows initiative – and he is only Year 5. Mahi Pai, Atamira.
Secondly, we had mufti with our Can collection today. We are proud of you, our Whānau, as we have an amazing amount of food ready to take to the Food Bank on Friday. This is part of our Thinking of Others for Kiwi Can. The Student Leaders will be presenting this to the Food Bank – watch out for photos of this early next term.
Swimming
In the holidays you may want to take the time to make sure your tamariki have togs that fit – and goggles if they wear them. We certainly think they learn better with goggles. We have brought our swimming programme forward to Week 3 and 4 next term. Everyone is expected to attend as it is part of the normal school day. Over the last few years we have gone to Kings Swim School but this year we are going locally to Graham Condon Pool by Northlands Mall. We will need parents to help and notices will be going out very promptly next term.
Reports
These will be going out tomorrow with learners. They are addressed to you as parents. Please read them and take notice of the comments made.
Pizza Party
Today is Pizza Party and we have over 100 students taking part. We run this every term so if your child has missed out this time, they will be going next time once they have earned more Care Cards. Pizza Party is for every 40 Care Cards that they receive.

Holidays
This Friday is the end of Term 2. It has been an exceptionally challenging half of the year with Covid and other sicknesses around. We have been lucky that we have dodged this having too much of an impact so far and we have managed to keep the school open. If case numbers climb next term this will obviously have an impact on our programme. Cross fingers and toes we continue to be ‘lucky’.
Enjoy the change in routine/holiday with your whānau and we’ll see you all again next term.
Please note that you are most welcome to come into school again now. We encourage you to wear masks – particularly if you are coming inside. You are part of our school community so come in the gate at the beginning and end of the day.
Holiday Work
Over the holidays work continues on our hall. We are having the inside painted as well so it will look amazing when it’s finished. We also are having landscaping done on the front walking gate entrance, and our basketball hoop is being installed. Exciting times!
