Stars of the Week

Office (Bishopdale School) —

Congratulations to this week's Stars of the Week, who are:

Ahurei Raharuni in Kōwhai

Ahurei joined our New Entrants Class back in May and likes coming to school. He enjoys learning all different subjects and said he likes making things in art. In a couple of weeks the whole school will be having swimmings lessons and Ahurei said he is looking forward to them.

Leo Mackie in Koromiko

Leo had a great time at the local park during the school holidays. He likes being back at school and has been writing stories in class. He said his favourite food to eat is broccoli. Leo loves playing soccer at school and also likes to practise at home. He also likes basketball and would like to be in a team.

Brodey Tapfield in Koromiko

Brodey went swimming at both the Jelly Park and the Graham Condon pools during the holidays. This year will be his second year of swimming lessons at school and he said he can do the crawl when he wears his swimming goggles. He said yesterday in class they were practising their handwriting but didn't have time to finish it, so they will be doing that today. Brodey celebrated his 8th birthday on Monday, which was the first day back to school, and he is now 8 years old, the same as Jaylah. He said he also likes butter chicken.

Maria Shurab in Mataī

Maria enjoyed a chocolate fluffy drink from the bakery during the holidays. She is looking forward to the school's swimming lessons and said she has a black swimming costume to wear but wishes she had a colourful one. Maria has had swimming lessons before. She likes being back at school and loves to play with her friends in playground on the big swing.

Zack Dench in Tī-Kōuka

Zack said he had a good holiday and spent time on his 4 wheeler and also playing with his 2 dogs. He is enjoying being back at school and hanging out with his friends. Zack also likes being in the Space Defenders group at school with Jules. He is looking forward to swimming lessons and hopes to be in the top group. Zack is in Year 5 next year and is hoping to be in the school soccer team, as he plays for a soccer team outside of school.

Shyla-Rae Isaacs in Kahikatea

Shyla-Rae went to the QEII pools during the holidays. She is also looking forward to swimming lessons with the school and said she has had 2 years of lessons with us. This afternoon the RNZ Ballet will be visiting us at school and Shyla-Rae will be joining in ballet lessons with them, which she is looking forward to as she has never done ballet before. She has been writing in class this morning and said she finds it easy to get ideas for her story writing. Shyla-Rae is a member of our Bishopdale Red Netball Team and both our teams are doing really well at Hagley this year. She is in Year 5, so we are lucky to have another year with her at school.

Khalea McCausland in Tōtara

Khalea had a very exciting holiday. Her sister had a gender reveal party, and in October Khalea will become an Aunty for the first time. She also enjoyed watching the State of Origin play rugby league on TV. Khalea is a member of one of our school netball teams, as well as a member of our Cultural Group and Pasifika Group. She enjoys playing touch and next year will be moving on to Casebrook Intermediate.
