Haere mai – Wiki Rima

We had an amazing day yesterday celebrating our different cultures. The tamariki put in so much effort to their ‘dress’ and were proud to share with us their culture. Parents were involved in classes and we certainly love to see you as part of our learning community.

I need to thank you for the effort you put into the food that was provided for the shared morning tea as well. We had food from so many different cultures, well presented, and so much home made food. Thank you all so much. We all loved trying from different cultures. We look forward to doing it all again next year.

Look at the photos that we have to share with you!!

We have set the dates for our final Pizza Party reward. The school has also earned a Water Day – think slippery slides, hoses, water pistols, etc – for great playground behaviour. There will also be an outing for those who have earned over 160 Care Cards and deserve to go out with us.

CARE Values

This week’s focus is “Communicate respectfully with others.”

Competition time

Congratulations to Tusipa Masoe who won 3 Care Cards for answering last week’s newsletter question. Nadia Omidi won for the Junior children.

This week’s question – What is our Care focus for the week? There are 3 Care Cards on offer for the Junior who has the right answer in the kete in the office, and the Senior who has the right answer in. Mrs Mac will draw the winners on Friday.

Attendance

The class award last week went to Kānuka – Year 3 and 4 – class who had the highest percentage of their students at school for the week. They all received an icecream from Mrs Mac on Monday.

Victor Xu won the spot prize for being at school every day last week. Victor received a $25 New World Card to spend with his family. We will be giving this out again this week.

Paid Union Meetings

Please note that I am out at a Principal’s Paid Union meeting this morning.

Tomorrow, Thursday, all our teachers are attending the Paid Union Meeting at Redwood School. We encourage you to pick up your children before or at 1pm. We have sent a number of texts out reminding you of this already.

All our collective agreements are running out and we are seeking better conditions for our teachers and learners. Please support us in our campaign.

Prizegiving

Our final prizegiving this year is going to be held on Wednesday 7 December at 11.30am. You are all invited to attend – we may even have new chairs for you to sit on by then.
