From the Tumuaki
Kia ora e te Whānau
Titiro whakamuri, kōkiri whakamua
Look back and reflect, so you can move forward.
We have had a busy week again – all our groups have been to the Beach for Beach Education. It’s so important for our tamariki to learn about how to keep safe in the surf as New Zealand has one of the highest drowning rates per person and we really want to change this. Thanks to the parents who came to help and made this trip possible.
Last week our Cultural Group performed at our Tōtaranui Cultural Festival. It was a really proud moment and celebrating how they have been learning for the year. We have included some photos in this newsletter. We were also able to showcase our new Kapa Haka uniforms. They were well overdue as our last uniforms have lasted for years and years. Thanks to our tutors - Matua Willy and Whaia Tania.
Today we have two children going to Central Athletics Competition with their parents – we look forward to hearing how they go.
Attitude of Gratitude
As part of our morning huihui we encourage the children to share what they are thankful for. It does concern us that we are a ‘take it’ society and we forget to say thanks for what we are given. Please encourage your child to say thanks for such things as going on a school trip, having a disco, getting rewards, etc. It makes all the difference to what can sometimes seem thankless. Teachers also thank children for what they do for us.
Disco – Wednesday 4 December
A reminder that this is taking place in the school hall from 5:30 – 7pm. This is only for students who come to our school. The cost will be $3 which can be paid at the door and this will include entry, face painting and a bag of lollies. Thanks to those parents who have already volunteered to help bag lollies. We have all the lollies ready to bag and the student leaders will start on this project this week – anything they don’t manage to finish we will ask our parent helpers to finish off for us.

Koromiko won the class attendance for having the highest percentage attending for the week.
Newsletter Competition
The question of the week is what do you have to thank the school for? There is more than one answer obviously.
Write your answer on a piece of paper, named, and pop it in the kete in the office – 3 Care Cards for Juniors, 3 Care Cards for Seniors. Last week this was won by Dagmawi Asefa and Kitana Renata-Taituha.
