Our Positive Behaviour for Learning Value this week We Respect Others –

·         We are kind to everyone, remembering that we all have feelings.

·         We treat people the way we want to be treated.

·         We always use manners and share nicely.

·         When others talk we actively listen.

·         We make sure that others feel happy and safe around us through our choices in words and actions.

Our Te Reo Māori phrases are āta whakarongo – listen carefully and Tapatapahi ana!  - Cool, Choice!

Weekend Break In

Please keep an eye on our school over the weekends.  This is not my school, or the teachers’ school but our community school.  Due to past vandalism we keep our gates locked over the weekend and at night.  If there is anyone in the school grounds that you see please text the school phone and let us know and we can access the cameras to check it out later.

There was a large group of our ex students and some others who came onto our grounds and got inside – not stealing anything but jumping in and out of the window and setting the alarms off which made them run away.  I have spoken to all the parents of the tamariki that we could identify and still have a couple to contact.  The police have been informed and will also be making contact.  Thanks for caring and helping us out.

Wednesday Challenge

The winning class this week is Mataī.  The winners had the most students who made their own way to school by either walk, scooter, bike, etc.  They get more points for being dropped off down the road and walking to school.  They get no points for coming all the way in a car.  This challenge obviously just runs on Wednesdays.

Mufti/Non-Uniform Day – Friday 28 March

We have a mufti day – Wear Your Brightest Colours.  The theme is ‘Stand Up for Standing Out.’  This is to raise money for E Tū Tāngata – we partner with them to ensure kids and young people know their worth.

Easter Raffle

Thanks for all your donations.  Last call for donations by this Friday, 28 March.

We will be putting together the raffles – 2 of - later this week and the tickets will be $2 each.  This raffle will be drawn on Thursday 10 April.

Open Day – Tuesday 1 April

This is not an April Fool’s joke.  It really is open day for our school.  Please come to hui and then to your child’s class afterwards.  You can feel free to wander around the school as some classes will be demonstrating the new English learning and some the new Maths learning.   Please respect the fact that the tamariki are in learning time.  There will also be Maths text books on display with other information in the library.

At the end of the morning at 10.30am you can help yourself to tea/coffee outside the staffroom and share kai with your children.

Every child who has a parent attending will get a Care Card and the class with the most parents attending will win free time.

Newsletter Competition

The question is what animal is visiting in the Life Education trailer?  Extra points – what is his name?

This is worth 3 Care Cards this week.

As always, write your answer on a piece of paper, name it, and place it in the kete in the office.  One entry per child.  This is worth 3 Care Cards each for the Junior and Senior winner – and a lollipop.

This will be drawn at random from the kete on Friday morning.   Last week this was won by  Kitana Renata-Taituha and Wairere Phillips.
