Latest news from Bluestone including cancellation of events

Ian Poulter —

As COVID-19 begins to impact on New Zealand we are taking positive proactive steps to address this. Please note the cancellations below.

A number of crowd and large group events are being cancelled around the country in a proactive bid to minimise any impact of the virus. At a local level several events have been cancelled and at a school level organisers of local events are taking precautionary measures to keep our students well.

The following events are cancelled:

The South Canterbury Primary School Swimming Sports.

The South Canterbury Have-A-Go sports day

Our Year 7-8 kayaking and yachting

Our Year 5-6 School Camp

Bluestone School Assemblies

At Bluestone we are encouraging students to maintain high levels of personal hygiene. Hand washing before eating and after going to the toilets is being strongly encouraged. We would appreciate if this could also be emphasised at home. The message we are keen to give is not to fear COVID-19 but rather that if we are positive and proactive in our actions we can each play a significant role in minimising any possible impact. Children will benefit from knowing there are simple things they can do to help keep themselves and others well, so this is a good message to convey.
