'Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.'
In Room 18, we have been writing poetry, using our feelings in a range of poetry types. Read some examples of 'Feelings', 'Colour' and 'I Am' poems.
Hazel FEELINGS
I like strawberries when they're dipped in warm gooey chocolate
I like the beach when it's a summer evening and the sand slithers through my toes
I like Christmas when the sun dances on the ground and almost fries my feet
BUT I don't like maths because it makes my mind explode with problems
Elyssa COLOUR
Blue reminds me of rain when it lightly touches the roof and elegantly jumps off
Blue reminds me of a waving flag dancing in the wind
Blue reminds me of a butterfly dancing on each and every flower
Blue reminds me of icing swirling on top of a bright vanilla cake
BUT sad when a tear rolls down my face
Lily COLOUR
Indigo makes me feel like running through a meadow of lilacs
Indigo makes me feel like drawing an amazing made-up world using only my imagination
Indigo makes my brain explode with ideas
Indigo makes me feel like dancing in the pouring rain
BUT sad when it's a flower's broken petals
Will I AM
I am curious and a boy
I wonder if giving up is the worst way to go in life
I hear little voices in my head telling me to do my best
I see the rain clouds start to fade as a bright colourful rainbow appears
I want to show to others that I try to be a positive person
I am curious and a boy
I pretend that parkour is the best way to escape the devil
I feel stress when I'm having hard time doing things
I worry about my life being in danger in the future
I cry when I'm not happy with myself
I am curious and a boy
I understand that some people's lives are not going the way they want it to be
I say, 'Be proud of who you are'
I dream about being a professional free-runner who does free-running in lots of countries around the world
I try to be really positive as much as I can throughout my school years
I hope that my life will be great in the future
I am curious and a boy
