Games Sense in Room 21

Justine Reihana —

This term our focus for Games Sense has been Gymnastics.

This term Julie has been focusing on Gymnastics for Games Sense. We have learned to do dive rolls, forward rolls, pencil rolls, handstand forward rolls, vault, beam and straight jumps.

"I like doing the springboard." Kaleb

"I enjoyed balancing on the beam." Arly

"My favourite was the mini trampoline." Tylah

"I fell off the vault but I kept trying." Tommy

We have improved with our flexibility and techniques. We had three members of our class who went to the South Canterbury Gymnastics Festival and they were Anahera Smith, Shakita Green and Helena Shelton. The girls were part of the Year 5 and 6 A Team which came first.

"I really liked being able to learn all the different routines and to choose my own vault and floor routine." Helena Shelton

"I was nervous when I first got asked to compete but now I'm really confident because I've been practicing and I am nailing my routines." Anahera Smith

"I really like gymnastics. It's not an opportunity that you get every day and it's a real privilege to go to the festival. I'm excited to go with my friends." Shakita Green

We'd like to give Julie and Mrs Hines a big thank you for all the help she has given to the class and to the gymnastics teams.
