Year 8 Camp to Aoraki Mt Cook

Monica Genet —

Between the 20th - 24th February the Year 8 students had the opportunity to attend a 3 day, 2 night camp in the beautiful world heritage site that is, Aoraki National Park.

From WOO to GO the trip was action packed. Students tramped the Hooker Valley, experienced the working life of a Search and Rescue team, learned about pests and pest control in our national parks, discovered more about the history of the area, and finally tasted a glacier while on the glacier explorers boat excursion.

According the our students, some notable highlights include...

"The food"

"Milo at nights"

"Van trips"

"Playing spotlight"

"Toilets in bunkrooms"

"Amazing race and bunk room challenge"

"Glacier ride and walks"

"Sir Edmund Hillary Museum"

"Views"

and last but by no means least...  "Parent helpers"

The Think Tank Teaching Team were so impressed by the students we took away and were very grateful to the parent helpers who attend camp, making the whole event a huge success.

BRING ON AORAKI 2024!!!
