High Flyers Narrative Writing

Axel Jenkins —

High Flyers have been working on narrative writing for the last few weeks.

They have learnt to introduce a character and setting, drop hints leading up to a problem and then have their character solve the problem and as a result, learn from their ordeal.

One of the activities that Room 21 completed was having every begin at the same starting point, with a Girl and a Dragon at the edge of a forest, and then to see where each student's imagination would take these characters.

Below is what some of the students had to say about narrative writing.

Oliver - “I like using my imagination”

Shontelle - “I liked getting to publish my work”

Liam - “I like describing the characters in my story”

Tilly - “I liked how everyone had the same starting point and then went on to write their own adventure”

Annie -” I like to put all my ideas down on the page”

Nico - “we are not restricted to things that could actually happen”

Shruti - “because it feels like you're inventing something”
