Family Portraits in Watercolour
During the last couple of weeks Room 8 have been creating family portraits using pencil and water colours. We have added the final touches, framed them, and they are ready to put up in our classroom.
First we looked at other paintings of family portraits to see how the people were arranged. Then we talked about the sizes and features of each family member. After that we sketched our family members remembering to add in details such as the face features, hair, clothing etc. When we were happy with our drawing we carefully painted our portraits using water colours. Lastly we painted in the backgrounds so that our family would stand out.
Take a look at our photos below - we think we did a fabulous job of our family portraits and we are looking forward to using water colours again.
