Rippa Rugby Tournament

Ian Poulter —

The Bluestone Rippa Rugby Team played at Alpine Energy Stadium last Thursday and competed against other South Canterbury Primary Schools.

Our first game was against Highfield. We used good team work, supported each other well and our defence was strong, we won 6–1. The second game against the Sacred Heart Speedy Saints was a low scoring and close game, we never gave up and won 3–2. The next game was against St Joseph’s Pl Point, this was a really physical close game that had the supporters on edge and very vocal. We pulled through and scored a try in the last few seconds winning 9–8.

The last game of the pool was a hard game. It was a fast paced attacking game going try for try all match until the final hooter with a 7–7 score line. This meant Bluestone went through the pool unbeaten, unfortunately due to a count back system we missed out on qualifying to go through to the semi finals.

It was a great day, Bluestone played awesome with all players contributing to the scoreboard. Thanks to the supporters, Mr Mills and Julie, Lucas Mullings, Flynn Smith, Toby Clemett, Nick Webb, Kahlan Rodger, Amy Ellis, Jayda Prue, Briana Grace, Roshean O’Connor.
