Maori kites and culture are closely intertwined and have a highly symbolic connection to Matariki. There is a growing interest in learning how to make kites using the traditional methods.

Bluestones Maori Language Semis Group led by Lee West participated in a kite making workshop provided by the Te Ana Centre.  Students were instructed on how to make their own kites using traditional methods.
