Public Health Nursing
District health boards are responsible for providing programmes for the early detection of health abnormalities, surveillance and the health needs of children at school.
The health education syllabus is implemented by schools with assistance from District Health Board personnel.
What we do;
Make regular visits to school's to advise on children's health
Monitor health status of children at school
Work alongside families
Provide parenting support
Provide adolescent health clinics in High Schools
Provide B4 School checks
Provide health information and support to Early childhood/ education centers
Refer to health professionals, agencies or other supporting services
Support Health promotion in schools
Free Youth Health clinic Ages 12-25
Year 7-8 School based immunisation Program
Referrals;
Allergies/ Anaphylaxis
Co-ordination/ motor skills
Eating/ Nutrition
Hearing or vision concerns
Hygiene
Immunisation and Communicable Diseases
Medical Conditions (Asthma, Diabetes, Allergies)
Puberty/ Sexual Health/ Sexuality information
Skin conditions (Headlice, Eczema, Impetigo)
Significant behavioural concerns
Grief and Loss
Speech and Language
Other physical/ mental health concerns
