Well done teams!

RIPPA RUGBY TOURNAMENT 2018

Year 5/6 Rippa Rugby Tournament was held on Wednesday 23rd May at the Alpine Energy Stadium.

Players have been training hard since they got back from camp.   This showed on the day with both teams playing their hearts out.  They proved that teamwork, fitness, communication and determination all contribute to a successful team.

The Troopers team coached by Shannon Edwards started their day off well with 2 wins.  They played the very competitive Point team next and found the going a bit tough, losing that one but bouncing back in their last game to draw 7 all.  A great effort team.

The Speed Stars started the way they intended to finish their pool.  A first up win, with 3 more to follow that.  They gained momentum and were playing really well as a team, backing each other up and being very brave on defence. The last game in the pool was to prove the toughest against a strong St Joseph's side who were also unbeaten.  The winner would determine who would go through to semi finals.  A hard fought battle it proved to be but Bluestone held their nerve in a tense final like atmosphere to win 6-4.  Yet again we met Pleasant Point in the semi final.  Having not been together as a team for long and not being used to the physical way the Point team play, Bluestone gave it everything and although digging deep could not stop the talented Point team from victory.  I was super proud of my team, who played some brilliant Rippa and who exceeded my expectations on the day.  Well done!!!  Top try scorers were Nathan Kennedy 12 and Eithan Dominey 9.  All boys scoring tries on the day, top effort from all players, Helena Shelton top try scorer for the girls with Shakita Green showing her speed and determination along with Asha Hollamby and the rest of the team who all contributed to the teams success.

A big thanks to Mr Tim Mills who has helped the teams train and Mr Edwards who is coaching the Bluestone Troopers on the day.
