Peanut free lunch ideas

Vicki Zonnevylle —

Each term we will share some ideas of options for school lunches that are peanut free

A reminder that we cannot have food items at school that 'contain peanuts' as we have students currently with severe allergies.

Any packaging that says 'may contain traces' of nuts is fine.

All items that state 'contain peanuts' (i.e. peanut butter sandwiches, some muesli bars, home baking etc.) are not acceptable at school please.

Peanut butter is a definite no please but Nutella is an option (including the cheaper home brand options).

Jams and other spreads are good in sandwiches. As is your usual vegetables and/or meat fillings.

Please remember to check baking as often we are not fully aware of what ingredients are in the food if we haven't baked them ourselves.

Muesli bars are an option so long as the label does not say 'contains peanuts'. Many options are available that say 'may contain traces' and these are acceptable.

There are many options of muesli bars available and we really appreciate your efforts in taking the time to read the label to confirm that they are okay to bring to school. Thank you 🙏
